One of the most anticipated events in the country is the celebration of Veterans Day. It’s a time we get to openly honor our veterans who have fought with all their might to protect our freedom and sovereignty.

Veterans deserve to be recognized for their exemplary service and courage in standing their ground in honor of the American people. No words or celebrations can ever be enough to gratify what they have done and are still doing to protect America’s freedom and liberty.

In honor of the Veterans, the city of Prescott has announced that it will hold a Veterans Day Parade in Downtown Prescott on Thursday. The opening ceremony will take place at 10:30 AM on the stage at the intersection of Cortez Street and Union Street. The parade officially begins at 11:00 AM.

This year’s parade theme is Honoring World War II Veterans- A Grateful Nation Salutes the Greatest Generation. This year, the city of Prescott is inviting parade entrants from all over the Prescott community to compete in several categories this year. There will be seven categories to compete for. There will be a winner declared in every category and an overall winner announced by the end of the event. The categories are as follows:

  • Fraternal or Military Organizations

  • Motorized Groups

  • Music

  • Marching Units

  • Hospital Entries by Veterans

  • Non-Profit Organizations

  • Commercial/Business

The city of Prescott is also looking for World War II Veterans to serve as Parade Grand Marshals. For more information on this event, please contact Michelle Stacy-Schroeder at the Recreation Services Office at 928-777-1552 or email her at
